APPEARANCE

Western Larch has the advantage of growing in cold, high elevation climates, making its grain dense and straight. Knots are common but small. Heartwood ranges from yellow to a medium reddish-brown.

It will take paint and stain well; if left untreated, larch will silver. It is rated moderately durable and can be used untreated for cladding or decking with a service life of approximately 30 years.

- Pre-drill ends to prevent splitting

- Install with heart up when possible

- Stain with oil-based product
